John K. Kai is president and founder of Pinnacle Investment Group, LLC, and has worked extensively in the field of financial advisory services since 1991. He started with Merrill Lynch and later joined PaineWebber, Inc., in 1995, where he served as the branch manager of the Hilo Office from 1997 through 1999. John has done hundreds of investment-related workshops for individuals, organizations, and companies. These workshops have covered topics ranging from general market updates, retirement planning, college planning, estate planning, and information on company-sponsored retirement plans, such as 401(k)s, SEP, and SIMPLE-IRAs. John places a tremendous value on giving to the community and leads by example in various capacities. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of ML Macadamia Orchard, LP (NYSE: NUT), the Big Island's only publicly traded company. He is an emeritus regent of the Board of Regents for the University of Hawaii. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH). John has served as a commissioner on Governor Lingle's East Hawaii Advisory Commission and has served on the boards of Hospice of Hilo, the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, and other non-profit organizations. He currently serves on the board of the Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Hawaii Island Chanber of Commerce and the Filipino Chamber of Commerce. In addition, John has coached various youth basketball teams in the Hilo area and loves it when a former player still calls him "coach". John enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball in the leagues, reading, golfing, and solving the world's problems with friends over a cold beer and a fine cigar.
