The interenet has certainly leveled the playing field and has provided all investors access to a tremendous amount of information. Still, access to information is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to understanding the complex financial landscape. This list of resources is only a sampling of what I utiilize daily to help provide me with a current gauge on the market sentiment and what issues I need to be aware of when assessing my recommendations for our clients.
- The Drudge Report – A complete aggregate of the news affecting the economy and markets.
- The Street – TheStreet.com, Inc. is a leading digital financial media company. We provide our readers and advertisers with a variety of subscription-based and advertising-supported content and tools through a range of online platforms, including web sites, mobile devices, email services, widgets, blogs, podcasts and online video channels.
- Google Finance – Google Finance has proven to be a very reliable source for up-to-the-minute information on the markets and stocks in general. I use this site extensively to get updated pricing on positions.
- FINVIZ.com – Financial Visualizations is another powerful web based resource for obtaining all pertinant information relating to various stock positions.
- FreeStockCharts.com – Another great resource for tracking stocks online. Complete with multiple timeframes, ability to mark up charts with trendlines, moving averages, bollinger bands, etc. Best of all, it’s FREE!
- Investors.com – The online presence of the IInvestors Business Daily newspaper. Another great resource for up to the minute breaking news.
- Bloomberg – Top headlines , market snapshots, and everything else you need to know aobut the global financial markets.
- The Reformed Broker – Joshua Brown of The Reformed Broker blog is must reading for me every morning and evening. Excellent content.
- Abnormal Returns – This is a definate must read every weekend. Great way to catch up on what’s trending on Wall Street and what other smarter people are thinking about as it relates to the worlld of personal financie, general investing and global economics.
- LemonHI – As the proud parent of a couple of very talented kids, I have to promote their website and blog. Aaron (21) is the creative genius behind the Lemon Hawaii lifestyle brand and Ian (23) is an accomplished writer and music producer, he has written reviews for Contrast Magazine out of Honolulu and has produced hip-hop beats and collaborated with various arttists here in Hawaii and on the mainland. Check it out and be sure to stop by the “store” to pick up your Lemon Hawaii gear!
